The VEXIQ Challenge is an annual competition which includes a Grades 4 & 5 Division and a Middle School Division. YML is excited to field teams for both divisions! Team members will get to design and build a robot which can score the most points on this year’s challenge board by remote control and by autonomous programming
Children will participate in a challenging and rewarding team experience, designed to expand their math, science, and engineering skils along with their ability to work cooperatively with others. Young Makers Lab will provide space, VEXIQ competition kits, challenge boards to practice on, and trained coaches so kids have an amazing experience.
Teams will meet for 2 hours once a week to build and program their robot and to practice for competition. Each team will compete on one or two Saturdays in November and December somewhere in South Florida.
We will have two VEXIQ teams from each division. Each team will meet once a week for 2 hours.

What is YML?
Simply put, YML is a makerspace for kids to explore and embrace an array of 21st century design and technology tools through a variety of Makers Clubs and workshops designed for all ages and interests.
Our mission at Young Makers Lab is to give kids the time, space, resources, instruction, and support that will allow them to create and share amazing things using 21st century tools and methods.
Sometimes the most powerful learning takes place when kids mix creativity and technology to learn and build. At YML, kids write computer programs, design works of art and print them in 3D, build robots, tinker with machines and electronics, and create amazing things yet to be imagined. YML provides kids with the opportunity to develop their problem-solving skills while building the kind of confidence that only comes with the challenge of designing and creating.
