Girl Powered Robotics Event

Young Makers Lab is hosting our First Annual Girl Powered Robotics Event.
Just to clarify, GIRLS ONLY! And space is limited!

What: A Girls Only Robotics Event. Girls will learn and practice mechanical engineering concepts that lead to a greater understanding of robotics and how robotics can solve real world problems.

Who: Girls Only.  Ages 7 to 14.
Parents are welcome to stay and observe/participate.

Why Girls Only? 51% of the US population is female, while only 15 to 20% of the STEM workforce is female, and the numbers are dropping dramatically.

Additionally, only 10 to 15% of advanced level STEM course enrollees in secondary and post secondary education are female. As a teacher for the past 27 years, I know how hard it is for girls to get traction in STEM classes, where boys are more vocal and more likely to be called upon.

For these reasons, we are committed to providing opportunities for girls in STEM related classes and workshops.

What about Boys? Our current robotics teams, engineers clubs, and in school workshops are made up of both girls and boys – so we do offer a ton of things for both genders.

Feel free to click on any of the links above to read more about what we offer.

This event, however, is for girls only.
