There seems to be a great deal to be happy about when it comes to girls in STEM related education studies.  In fact, according to The National Girl’s Collaborative Project, “Female students’ achievement in mathematics and science is on par with their male peers and female students participate in high level mathematics and science courses at similar rates as their male peers.”

There is, however a large gap in the number of female students versus their male peers in engineering and computer science course. In fact, according to their own study, 81% of AP Computer Science students are male.

So it would seem the question is, how can we encourage more girls to enroll in engineering and computer science courses? YML is committed to bringing more content to girls, for girls, by girls.  It’s one of the reasons that more than 70% of our staff are females.
